You protected your boat - now help protect the environment! Clean Ocean Access (COA) is inviting all boaters to responsibly dispose of their shrink wrap. Join us at Mystic Aquarium’s Milne Center for a one-day collection event on Saturday, April 29 from 10 am to 12 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Drop off your shrink wrap and feel the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made an environmentally responsible decision. Starbucks of Mystic will be providing coffee for all who attend this recycling event, disposable cups will be available but as always we encourage attendees to bring a reusable cup. Every spring, millions of pounds of shrink wrap used in the marine industry winds up in the landfill and contributes to marine debris in our oceans. Together, we can recycle shrink wrap domestically into new products for the marine and sailing industry to work towards closing the loop with this circular economy initiative. COA plans and develops circular economies that benefit business, society, and the environment by focusing on regenerative designs to reduce consumption of finite resources. Please prepare your shrink wrap for recycling by making sure all contaminants are removed prior to dropping it off. - Remove all strapping, vents, zippers, and other non-shrink wrap material - Ensure shrink wrap is clean and dry - Fold shrink wrap into 4- to 5-foot width - Roll shrink wrap into tight bundle and tie using strip of shrink wrap We’re grateful for the support of our recycling partners and Mystic Aquarium for sharing their facility and supporting our circular economy initiatives. Those who recycle their shrink wrap materials with us will receive 2 free tickets to the Mystic Aquarium to use on a date of your choice.
