ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a gamer scam, a gun at Goodwill, domestic violence, an ATM burglary, a slip and fall, a workplace dispute, DUIs, drugs and driving violations. Here is information from the police reports: Gamer scam A person told police that he sold a PlayStation 5 gaming console about 9:30 p.m. Friday at Jewel-Osco, 153 E. Schiller St. The buyer paid the person $700 in cash for the console. The seller later realized the money was counterfeit. The suspect is described as black, 5 feet, 11 inches, 240 pounds, in his early 20s, and having a heavier build. An investigation is pending. Gun at Goodwill The manager of Goodwill, 675 W. North Ave., told police Sunday that a small wooden box containing a gun was found in a donations bin. The gun had no markings to determine the make, model or serial number. It was placed into evidence for destruction. Domestic violence Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of South West Avenue. A woman said a man pushed her during an argument. The man said he pushed away the woman after she pushed him. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements from both parties. ATM burglary Huntington Bank, 700 W. North Ave., informed police that suspects tried to force entry into the exterior drive-thru ATM Friday. A corporate investigator said two suspects pried open an ATM, but were unable to access the secured vault. Both left the area in a white Ford box truck. An investigation continues. Slip and fall Police responded to a report of a woman who slipped on ice and fell about 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Eggleston Avenue. She did not suffer any visible injuries and refused medical treatment. Workplace dispute A person at the Ray Graham Association, 420 W. Madison St., told police that about 1 p.m. Friday, he felt threatened when his supervisor yelled at him. The case is pending an investigation. The organization's mission is to help people with disabilities. DUIs Alfredo L. Garcia, 20, of Addison, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Church and Lake on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI (drugs), driving with a revoked license, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, obstructing identification, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic signal. Garcia had warrants from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and the Addison Police Department. He was arrested after a hit-and-run crash. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Cesar Burciaga, 38, of Chicago, was arrested at 8 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South Route 83 on a charge of DUI. He was released on bond. Quentin Logan, 31, of Forest Park, was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday at North and Elm on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage. He was released on bond. Drugs Christopher Cherico, 33, of Round Lake, was arrested about 10 p.m. Thursday at York and Lake on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, improper transportation of marijuana, no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper display of registration and possession of drug paraphernalia. In the same incident, Michael Jones, 33, of Brighton, Mich., was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Eric Campofiore-Audet, 31, of Palatine, was arrested on a warrant and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Ashley Charboneau-Turner, 32, of Brighton, Mich., was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. They were all taken to the DuPage County Jail. Shoplifting A man entered Mariano's, 647 N. York St., about 7:30 a.m. Saturday and stole merchandise. He was described as white, in his 30s, and wearing glasses, all black clothing, gloves, a black baseball cap and a face mask. The man left in a silver Chevrolet Blazer. Driving violations Patrick Deleon, 27, of Cicero, was cited about 9 p.m. Thursday at St. Charles and Fair on charges of possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond.Anna Nepomecuno, 38, of Melrose Park, was cited about 7:30 a.m. Friday at Poplar and St. Charles on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. She was released on bond. Britney Meeks, 27, of Villa Park, was cited about 9 a.m. Friday at St. Charles and Route 83 on charges of driving with a suspended license and failure to wear a seat belt.Angel Alicea, 23, of Chicago, was cited about 1 p.m. Friday at North and Addison on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Jacolby Pendleton, 26, of Chicago, was cited shortly before 11 p.m. Friday at Roosevelt and Butterfield on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond. Ricardo Magness, 32, of Redford Township, Mich., was cited at 4 a.m. Saturday at Lake and York streets on charges of illegal transportation of alcohol, marijuana possession and speeding. He was released on bond. Jacqueline Flores, 22, of Bensenville, was cited about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North York Street on charges of no valid driver's license, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond. Antonio Agee, 22, of Berwyn, was cited shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday at York and Roosevelt on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. He was released on bond. Warrant Andre Turner, 51, of Chicago, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Sunday on a warrant. He turned himself into the police department. He was released on bond. Thomas Smolinski, 61, of Schaumburg, was arrested about 5 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Lake on a McHenry County Sheriff's Office warrant and a charge of expired registration. He was released on bond. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
