Description
ExtraFarm Camp runs Monday - Friday for ages 7-12 Drop off is at 10a.m. & pick up is at 4p.m. Farm Camp is a full fun of learning all about life on an animal rescue farm. The day begins with instruction about the different animals living on the farm, their needs, the kids expected behavior around the animals, the differences in animals (species and as individuals), etc. The kids work together daily to help prep & feed the animals breakfast & fill up their water buckets. They also help with light chores like scooping poop, adding shavings & straw to their beds. Each day highlights a difference species or two in special instruction focus. The farm has horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens & ducks, as well as exotic animals like patagonian maras, tortoises, turtles, a skunk, lizards, frogs, snakes, parrots, rabbits, Guinea pigs & more. The hands on animal access cannot be beat! We break for water & snacks as needed to cool off & campers have a Lunch break around 12:30. Followed by relaxing cool down time. (Campers bring their own lunch & snacks & drinks). We provide fruit snacks like watermelon & grapes as well as water refills. The afternoon includes another animal lesson focus, environmental games, art in nature or taking the goats or ponies for a nature hike. Activities may change based on the weather that day. After that the kids have free time for the last 60-90 minutes to spend doing their favorite farm activity until pick up time around 4pm. The last day during that last afternoon we pull names from a hat to team up for a fun farm obstacle course where kids get to pick a few prizes to take home to remember their fun week at the farm & get an Erins Farm T-shirt. Kids need to dress for the weather. It can be very hot or a rainy day. Bring rain boots if it calls for rain & a poncho. Wear sun block & a hat or a visor on hot days as we are often out in the fields with limited shade. Kids can bring a back pack & a change of clothes if they want. A tent or portable restroom is available for privacy changing if they need too. Water & a frozen water bottle for fresh cold water at the end of the day is recommended. On extremely hot days kids can cool off with their feet in the 1-2 ft kiddie pool, so swim suits can be worn under their clothes if they want to take a dip in the end of day during free time, but swimming is not the focus of camp. We cool off at the picnic tables in the shade of the trees & on rainy days inside the animal barns. (The main building is a private home & kids will not be going in there at any time.) Kids are asked NOT to bring cell phones or devices of any kind as that can distract from the days activities or could get damaged. Please also leave toys or other unrelated things at home as they can get lost or damaged. Staff will take photos of activities throughout the day to share with family of the campers. Photos may be used to share activities for future camp sessions. If you do not want your child photographed please let us know at check in. Kids with severe allergies should bring any needed medications as we will be outside around animals, hay & pollen the entire day.
