Health Sciences and Technology: For students interested in working in healthcare, there are many options available. Some examples include becoming a doctor, nurse, physical therapist, or dental hygienist. These careers require advanced education and training, but they can be very rewarding and fulfilling. Information Technology: With the increasing role of technology in our daily lives, there is a growing demand for skilled workers in this field. Students interested in technology can pursue careers in areas such as software development, cybersecurity, or data analysis. These jobs require strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in programming languages and other technical tools. Finance/Business Services: A career in business can be very diverse, ranging from finance to marketing to management. Students who are interested in business should develop skills such as communication, leadership, and critical thinking. They can pursue careers such as accountant, marketer, or entrepreneur. Human and Public Services: For students who are passionate about teaching and working with young people, a career in education might be a great fit. This pathway includes jobs such as elementary school teacher, high school teacher, or guidance counselor. Teachers need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students. Arts & Communications: This pathway includes careers in areas such as music, writing, theater, and visual arts. Students who are interested in the arts and humanities should be creative and have excellent communication skills. They can pursue careers such as musician, writer, or graphic designer. METT (Manufacturing, Engineering, Trades and Technology): For students who enjoy hands-on work and practical problem-solving, a career in the trades might be a great fit. This pathway includes jobs such as electrician, plumber, or carpenter. These jobs require technical skills and the ability to work with tools and equipment. Military For Students looking to explore a career in a branch of the military: Army, Navy, Marines, Airforce, Spaceforce. At the 2023 Lake Zurich High School Career Expo, we have invited professionals from each of these career pathways to speak with students and provide information about their jobs. We have also provided resources to help students explore these careers further, such as books, websites, and videos. Additionally, we have arranged for workshops and interactive activities to help students develop the skills necessary for each pathway. We hope that this High School Career Expo will help students discover their passions and find a career that is both fulfilling and rewarding.
