New IMO and EU legislation will impact the next coming years the current fleet of ships. Over 95% of this fleet will only transition to alternative fuels after ships’ lifespan. Nevertheless legislation will oblige them to cut emissions. At the same time new fuels will become available soon for the first ships of the future fleet. For both current and future fleets ports and harbour masters need to be prepared. This is the subject of this years EHMC seminar; the fuel transition phase and avoiding a gap between obligations on ships and what ports can offer them.
The event will provide the chance to meet others in the harbour master community and introductions here will be particularly valuable as EHMC now has some new members after a generation has retired, so much communication between delegates is anticipated. Although this is an event for European Harbour Masters, members in the 'aspiring' harbour master category are also welcome to attend.
