Other Brother Beer presents: A seated Sunday Wine Supper with a five-course French meal prepared "By Brutta" complete with natural wine pairings from France selected by Santa Cruz Sommelier Alyssa Papiernik. ——— Menu: -Radishes with Cultured Cream and Mint -Fresh Brioche sea urchin, saffron butter and blistered tomato consommé -Leeks, Spring Onions and Fava Beans grilled lemon, herbs, sheep’s cheese -Grilled Pork with Blenheim Apricot Mostarda boiled new potatoes, endive -Almond Dacquoise with Rhubarb and Mousseline ——— About By Brutta, the Chef: Amelia Telc is a chef living and working in Santa Cruz and Los Angeles, California. She began her culinary career at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco before moving to New York. Prior to moving back to the west coast Amelia lived in New York City and Hudson, NY for over a decade. While there she gained experience working with Ignacio Mattos of Estela, Danny Bowien at Mission Chinese Food and Mona Talbott of Talbott & Arding and Chez Panisse to name a few. Brutta was conceived as a pop-up originating at Apero Club in Santa Cruz, CA to complement their 0/0 natural wine program. Brutta prioritizes local produce and protein available from Santa Cruz and the surrounding area. Brutta, meaning “ugly” in Italian, is focused on serving simple food that feels like more than the sum of its parts and focuses on flavor and experience over aesthetics. ——— About Alyssa, the Somm: Alyssa is a self proclaimed wine nerd who has been a fixture of the Santa Cruz wine scene for over a decade. After receiving her sommelier certificate at the age of 21, she landed at Soif in Downtown Santa Cruz, where she ruled over their eclectic wine shop for several years before taking on the role as Wine Director for both Soif and Soif's sister restaurant, La Posta. Her desire to learn more about wine production led her to a harvest internship in the Wachau, Austria, before coming home to work with local icons John Locke and Alex Krause of Birichino, and Ian Brand of the I Brand & Family Winery. She currently works both as the Wine Director at Mentone Restaurant in Aptos, the newest concept from Michelin starred Chef, David Kinch, and as the local representative for Farm Wine Imports, a distribution company specializing in natural wines made around the world.
