Join us for a fun day of volunteering to celebrate Earth Month!
Planting Partner: Friends of Tryon Creek
Friends of Tryon Creek is a community-supported nonprofit started in 1970 by a group of dedicated park neighbors to preserve Tryon Canyon in SW Portland. Volunteer for a Land Tending Day and learn how to care for the land now known as Tryon Creek State Natural Area.
Event Description:
Friends of Tryon Creek has planted over 3,000 new trees and shrubs with the support of One Tree Planted US Urban Tree Equity Fund to repair the riparian area along Tryon Creek. Volunteers are playing a crucial role in this effort, with planned Earth Day activities including hiking to the project site, learning about native and non-native plants, and protecting and marking new trees with mulch and flagging.
