Miles For Margaret is a 5k race created to honor Margaret Lowe, a Pi Beta Phi sister who passed away unexpectedly in 2015. The race allows for Pi Beta Phi sisters, family members, and the greater UVA and Charlottesville community to come together and celebrate the wild and precious life that Margaret lived. It reminds all of us to live our lives to the fullest and to continue to spread sunshine, just as Margaret did. All proceeds raised from the 5k race are donated in Margaret's honor to Read>Lead>Achieve, Pi Beta Phi's national philanthropy. The Read>Lead>Achieve initiative works to not only improve the literacy rate in American children but also to inspire a lifelong passion for reading.
