Topanga Butterfly Day at The Mermaid is a fun, family-oriented, environmental festival dedicated to promoting and protecting butterflies, bees, and all other pollinators essential to our entire eco-system! Topanga's 4th Annual Butterfly Day at The Mermaid festival features music all day, delicious food and drink, a live butterfly house filled with butterflies, native butterfly plants for sale, evironmental education exhibits, face-painting and other art activities for kids. Topanga Canyon is famous worldwide for its natural beauty, musical heritage, progressive consciousness, environmental leadership and artistic flair. Nestled high in the Santa Monica Mountains, The Topanga Mountain Mermaid is a historic landmark and stunning private home with extensive native gardens that simply must be seen to be believed! Beyond the pool and gardens sits The Mermaid Butterfly House, an extraordinary greenhouse that is home to many species of beautiful butterflies and native plants that support them. Proceeds of Topanga Butterfly Day are used to raise environmental awareness, promote and protect pollinators, and encourage the planting of certified butterfly habitats throughout the Santa Monica Mountains. Beneficiaries include The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, Creative Visions Foundation, Greener Empowerment Foundation, Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum and other environmental partners.
