Description

How does our work shape how we see ourselves and the world? How is our perception of work evolving and what should the future of work look like? Join us as we explore the connection between work and our identities and discuss ways that we can, as a society, create an inclusive, equitable work environment that supports laborers as well as the local economy. Panelists include: ADAM CARSON – Co-founder of Drip & Culture Co. In Waukegan. Adam is a social entrepreneur (a person who establishes an enterprise to solve social problems or affect social change) who transitioned out of the public health, healthcare, and community development finance space to focus on tangible solutions that communities can launch to address inequity. NYDIA GONZALEZ-CARSON – Co-founder of Drip & Culture Co. In Waukegan. Nydia is also the creative director and retail manager of Gathr Creative Studio, an art studio and boutique with a variety of goods sourced from BIPOC-owned, women-owned, queer-owned, artists, as well as products from small businesses. JENNIFER HARRIS – An accomplished business executive, entrepreneur, and nonprofit leader who has led a versatile career in talent acquisition, workforce development, strategy, and business development across various startups and global corporate environments. Jennifer is the founder and President of CR Search Inc, an Executive Search firm based in Gurnee, IL, and chair of the board of directors of the National Association of Workforce Boards. SASHA ONGTENGCO – As a workforce systems consultant, Sasha contributes to social enterprise, employer practice change initiatives and systems-level alignment and equity efforts in the Chicagoland workforce development system aimed at building and improving communities. She is the vice chair of the board of directors of Northwest Side Housing Center and on the board of directors of Project Lia, a social enterprise working to address the many socioeconomic barriers to successful reentry through an innovative and collaborative work environment. In addition to the panel discussion, there will be a screening of video interviews by CLC students with family, friends, colleagues, and mentors about their goals, interests, reflections, and challenges in the workplace. Prior to and following the screening and panel discussion, please view the pop-up display of artwork generated from CLC's Community Art Engagement & Outreach workshops. A reception will follow the panel where refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.
