Adventurers and sellswords, just up and disappearing in the night, completely at random? People die and disappear in this line of work all the time. Surely some odd job had been found, or they had realized at some point in the dark hours that it was time for a change of scenery. You never know when you see someone for the last time, after all. Looking at the crooked trees and scarred buildings in the light of the red moon, however, made it all much more believable. Mangled bodies strewn across the blood-soaked dirt, a few still recognizable. Yes, the rumors were true. And based on the wisps of magic cradling the edges of this forest, shrouding the area beyond in pitch black, the party will have to survive in order to escape...
