This special event will feature information booths, speakers, patient representatives, and experts from across the UC Davis Health campus who specialize in the latest developments, services, and research related to Limb Loss. We are a multidisciplinary team here at UC Davis with backgrounds in: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Neuroengineering Neuroscience Neurobiology Biomedical Engineering Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physical and Occupational Therapy Prosthetics and Orthotics Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Orthopaedic Surgery Plastic Surgery At UC Davis Medical Center, we offer the following surgical procedures in combination with specialized rehabilitative medicine, therapy, orthotic and prosthetic devices and technology. Targeted Muscle Reinnervation - re-routing amputated nerves into redundant motor branches, reducing phantom limb pain and increasing signal diversity and intuitiveness of prosthesis controlOsseointegration (Integrum OPRA) - creating a direct connection between prosthesis and bone, allowing for a greater degree of prosthetic proprioceptionWe help our patients work towards prosthesis embodiment: the consideration of a prosthesis not simply as an assistive device, but instead as a part of the patient's self and identity.
