Description
Join us for an evening of Middle Eastern music as we fundraise for earthquake relief in Türkiye & Syria- our diverse concert will be featuring performances by: Azam Ali, Loga Ramin Torkian, Naser Musa, Misaq Eshaghi, and the full AKM Turkish Music Chorus conducted by Ali Tolga Demirtaş. Each artist will perform a solo set, and then as an ensemble for the grand finale, offering an evening of blended tunes you'll find reminiscent from all throughout the Middle East region. We are excited to share our eclectic program, and first-time collaboration, with you. Donations: This event was organized to fundraise and provide aid to the victims of the recent, catastrophic earthquake in Türkiye and Syria which demolished multiple cities and resulted in a devastating number of over 50,000 lives lost. All proceeds will be donated to the Turkish Philanthropy Funds (TPF) and to the World Central Kitchen -both instrumental in saving lives and providing desperately needed food and emergency health care. Your ticket donation (minus $10) is tax deductible as all musicians & staff are volunteers. Both charitable organizations- AKM & TPF- do not charge additional administrative fees. On February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern and central Türkiye and northern and western Syria. An area of about 350,000 km2 (140,000 sq mi) (about the size of Germany), along with the 14 million people who lived there were thrown into tragic and deadly circumstances. Approximately 1.5 million people were left homeless. As of March 20th, more than 50,000 victims have perished in Turkey, with an additional 7,200 deaths in Syria. Monetary damage is estimated to $104 billion in Turkey and $5.1 billion in Syria, making it the fourth-costliest earthquake on record. Damaged roads, winter storms, and disruption to communications hampered rescue and relief efforts, which included a 60,000-strong search-and-rescue force, 5,000 health workers, and 30,000 volunteers. Following Turkey's call for international help, more than 141,000 people from 94 countries joined the rescue effort. If you are unable to attend and wish to donate to the victims in need, you can do so through the donations link- we appreciate your support! Ticket Pricing: General admission is $50 dollars for adults and $25 dollars for students. Children 12 + under- free admission. $100 dollar ticket holders -in addition to concert entrance- will be invited to attend a light pre-reception at 4 pm for snacks* and an opportunity to meet & greet with the musicians. Higher donation tiers will be invited to the reception, receive a gift bag, and be recognized as bronze, silver, or gold donors, accordingly. The donations raised at this event will make a major difference in the lives of these victims, many of whom have tragically lost their loved ones, in addition to their homes and everything they held dear. Please help us rally to support those who were left behind as we come together for an evening of remembrance, healing, reflection, & artistic expression. * In observance of Ramadan snack to-go boxes will be readily available for reception guests who are fasting. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or require special accommodations.
