About Chef Silas Eng:
Chef Silas Eng is a first-generation Cambodian American, and a D.C. metro area native. Chef Eng recently relocated to the Tampa Bay area, bringing flavors from his roots as well as inspirations from some of his favorite dishes from around the world. Chef Silas was a regular host for Supper Club-themed events while in D.C. and is excited to bring his cooking to Tampa Bay. Some past events include a Texas-style BBQ with Lemongrass infused seasoning to Thai Chili Verde sauce on his take on Mexican Style Street Tacos. His infusion of flavors of one culture, and the one closest to his heart, continues to share his story through his dishes.
This event is an homage to both his country and his biggest inspiration, his mother. His mother’s near-death experience during Cambodia’s Civil War served as a significant turning point in her life and as an impactful moment in Chef Silas’ culinary journey. A war prisoner who barely escaped with her life; Chef Silas’ mom came to America to start a new and better life. Chef Silas is excited to share the culture and cuisine of his ancestors.
