Join Habitat for Humanity of Dane County for double the excitement on Thursday, April 20 as we celebrate two home dedications in Stoughton. Everyone is invited to meet the homeowners, tour the homes, and enjoy refreshments at 1121 and 1123 Abel Court in Stoughton at 4:30 p.m.
These homes are extra special as moms - Besjana and Besarta - are sisters and will be living next to each other with their families.
While both families are long-time Stoughton residents, Besjana and Besarta's family came directly to Stoughton as refugees in 1999 to escape the Kosovo War. The sisters were eleven and eight years old at the time.
Now they will both have permanent, safe, and affordable homes to raise their families.
Selim and Besarta Ismaili have two children, a four-year-old son, Ajan; and one-year-old daughter, Buna. Ismet and Besjana Topalli have three sons, 13-year-old Blenard; 10-year-old Ramadan; and one-year-old Ehad.
The homes, sponsored by Didion and Dane County Community Development Block Grant, will mark the 332 and 333 Habitat homes built in Dane County and the 17 and 18 homes built in Stoughton. An additional two homes are currently under construction in the Abel Court neighborhood.
During the home building process, both families spent hundreds of hours on the construction site. Prior to breaking ground last year, staff from Didion framed the homes in their parking lot. The frames were then moved to their permanent location in Stoughton.
