110 South Main Street,Akron OH 44308

15 April, 2023

Description

Prior to the festival celebrations, bring your bike downtown and ride under the beautiful cherry blossom trees as they bloom for spring! This free bike ride will be an easy slow paced pedal through the length of the Downtown Akron Sakura Festival. The ride will take us through all of the festival’s event areas, with a nice loop through the heart of downtown, about 6 miles in all. We will start at Dirty River Bicycle Works in Downtown Akron's historic Northside District, and pedal south on the towpath. We will ride down to Williams Tower, the southernmost end of the festival. We will return on the towpath until the Spaghetti Warehouse Towpath Trailhead, then we will continue down the Main Street Cycle Track to Bowery Street. At Bowery we will hop back on the towpath and take that down to the Mustill Store, the northernmost end of the festival. There are bike racks at the Mustill Store if you want to get right into festival activities after the ride, or it’s just a short ride from there back to Dirty River where we started. The bike ride will be led by bicycle and downtown ride experts from Dirty River Bicycle Works. There is public parking available around the shop on Main St. and underneath the Y Bridge. Afterwards, be sure to check out the Downtown Akron Sakura Festival, with live performances, vendors, and crafts at several locations along the Towpath Trail. These location include the Mustill Store, Lock 3 Commons, Lock 2, Spaghetti Warehouse Towpath Trailhead, and Williams Tower. Check out the full schedule of activities here.
