Megan's Saving Throw is a series of benefit events organized by Thom Freitag, supporting Megan Lamont, née Murphy, as they battle Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. These all-day events invite players to join curated games run by volunteer game masters, with all proceeds going to Megan's medical expenses.
ABOUT MEGANMegan Lamont is a podcaster, artist, and veterinary nurse from Pennsylvania. They've been on podcasts such as Discount Dungeons and Green Mountain Mysteries.
"In February, 2021, I got what I thought was a simple cold, and I had a lingering cough that never went away. After going to the doctors, they took chest radiographs which showed a concerning area in my chest that did not look like pneumonia. I then had a CT scan performed. The CT scan confirmed a large 13cm mass-like area in my chest and several enlarged lymph nodes. The next step was a PETscan, and a biopsy of my lymph node in my neck. The biopsy confirmed that I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The PETscan confirmed that I was at Stage 4. About 8,500-9,000 people are diagnosed with this every year. It responds very well to chemotherapy, and my doctor said it can be cured."
After going through one series of Chemotherapy treatments, Megan is now undergoing a Stem Cell transplant procedure.
This event hopes to use one of Megan's favorite things, Roleplaying Games, to help them keep up the fight.
