Description
**This event is free and open to all. While hosted at the university, we hope to create a diverse space welcoming people from beyond just this campus, from all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs. Beyond our race, ethnicity, nationality, and even gender, is there a higher identity that unites us all? If so, is the path to eradicating racism as much a spiritual one as it is social or legal? Concepts like “colorblindness” and “post-racial” seem to be everywhere today, but the struggles and repercussions of discrimination, of prejudice, and of racism still exist. What does it mean for us as individuals and as communities to strive for unity and justice in this landscape? Are we missing the chance to achieve real progress without taking into account the spiritual dimensions of human identity in our discussions on race? Be part of a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the truths that unite us all – as we discuss the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’í Teachings on the role of spirituality in eliminating racism. Join us for a lively discussion as we continue discussing a series of topics exploring how we can move towards achieving racial unity, focusing this week on the elimination of prejudices and recognizing and establishing the oneness of all. Join us as we continue exploring how a spiritual perspective can help us better understand ourselves and find a path forward in bringing together the beautiful diversity of our communities, helping us to eliminate racial prejudices and work together for the betterment of ourselves, our families, our communities, and our world. “God is the Shepherd of all and we are His flock. There are not many races. There is only one race.” – Bahá’í Teachings *** Donations will not be accepted. -------------------------------------- Our location is: Western Washington University, 516 High St, Bellingham, WA 98225 - Viking Union Room 462. * For navigation devices use specific location names like "Parking Lot C" or "Viking Union" instead of the address. * Parking is free in Lot C after 4:30 pm (15 min walk), or you can pay $2/hour for Lot 6V (closer).
