Our vision at GSN is to reduce the stigma of shame surrounding addictions and mental health disorders. Shame leads to isolation, preventing individuals and families from seeking help and support. No one should suffer alone. We envision congregations that lead with compassion and provide hope, healing, resources and support to their own congregants and the community.
We hope to help educate the community on the four R's:
RECOGNIZE: how trauma, addictions and mental health disorders affect individuals and their familiesRESPOND: in a way that is not going to cause further harmREFER: an individual to professional resources when neededRALLY: around the individual and their familyThis Trauma-Informed Care course will be focused on step 2: RESPOND.
This training will be presented by Natalie Larson with SoulSafe. The topics that will be covered within this training will help to recognize the common physical, emotional, and spiritual reactions to intense stress and adrenaline overload, practice ways to help mitigate intense stress symptoms, active listening, caregiver burnout, motivational conversation and more.
