Under the baton of Roger Kalia, Orchestra Santa Monica brings its 10th Anniversary Season to a climax with an exciting program of opera arias and symphonic operatic works. Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier Suite ("The Cavalier of the Rose”) showcases the magical music highlights of the full opera, a tumultuous and comical love story of princess Marschallin and her young lover Octavian. The dramatic themes of Verdi's overture La Forza del Destino ("The Power of Fate") evoke the romantic story of Don Alvaro and Leonora as they elope to find love. Soloists Katherine Polit (soprano), Alejandra Martinez (mezzo soprano), Nicholas Preston (tenor) and Abdiel Gonzalez (baritone) bring favorite opera arias by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini and Johann Strauss to life.
