About UsCommunity Kitchen Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization that provides culinary training to individuals experiencing employment barriers. Many of our students are battling homelessness or addiction, have previously been incarcerated and struggle to support themselves. For this reason our culinary training programs are completely free for our students and events like this help make that possible. To learn more about our organization visit our website www.ckpgh.org.
The EventAt the event you will enjoy a multi-course meal prepared by Guest Chef, Matt Welsch. Guests will be able to buy drinks from local wineries and breweries that pair nicely with the courses that have been curated. Our founder, Jennifer Flanagan, will speak about our mission and starting the organization. We will also hear from Matt Welsch and some of our current students!
About the Chef: Matt WelschMatt Welsch has spent years traveling the world learning different culinary techniques. Originally from West Virginia, he has developed a flavor and likeness for Appalachian style cuisine which is highlighted at his restaurant, Vagabond Kitchen in West Virginia.
Welsch has been featured on Guy’s Grocery Games, The Cast Iron Cookoff, West Virginia’s 40 Under 40, Taste WV Magazine, and WV Living. Now Matt Welsch joins us on April 19th where he will be preparing a multi-course meal at our very own Community Kitchen Pittsburgh located on 107 Flowers Ave, 15207.
