Diversity, equity and inclusion are not just buzz words. They are at the core of our ability to connect and thrive as one human family. Cultural competence is achieved when the policies and practices of an organization, or the values and behaviors of an individual, that foster effective cross cultural communication. A cultural organization values the people who work there, understands the community in which it operates, and embraces its clients as valuable members of that community. This means that the culture of the organization promotes inclusiveness and institutionalizes the process of learning about and valuing differences. This seminar will provide perspective for understanding the relevance of diversity, equity and inclusion and offer guidelines for achieving these objectives in healthy ways that demonstrate respect for all people.
