Join us for a fun day of volunteering to celebrate Earth Month!
This event is part of the ongoing ecological restoration of an oak woodland located in the Schaumburg Road Grasslands, a 750-acre forest preserve in Cook County, Illinois. Participants will plant the seed of over 40 native species in a remnant woodland where the objective is to restore the biodiversity and ecological function of a native midwestern-US oak ecosystem to pre-settlement conditions.
Meeting Point: Schaumburg Road Grasslands, Poplar Creek Equestrian Parking, located in Streamwood IL, on the north side of Schaumburg Rd, 3/4 mile west of Rte 59.
Please remember to:
Wear
Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots with good traction.
Long pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect your skin from scratches and insect bites.
Layers of clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
A hat or cap to protect your head and face from the sun.
Bring
A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
Sunscreen and bug spray
Snacks if you're a snack-y person
A positive attitude
