Description

Plant a Tree The Littleton Food Co-op is gearing up for an exciting Earth Day event that promises to be informative and eco-friendly. As part of the celebration, the Co-op will be giving away a limited number of bare-root tree seedlings on a first-come, first-served basis from 11 am til 1 pm. This is an excellent opportunity for customers to start their own little green spaces or contribute to reforestation efforts in their communities. To help customers make the most of their seedlings, James Frohn, a forestry field specialist from UNH Extension, will be available to answer questions about planting and caring for trees. Pollinator Friendly Plants & Seeds In addition to the free seedlings, the Co-op will also have local seed packets and pollinator-friendly plant starts available for purchase. Customers can take advantage of this opportunity to support local agriculture and help protect the pollinators that are essential to our food supply. Green Team, Go! The Green Team at the Co-op will have a display showcasing the store's sustainable initiatives, including solar energy, eco-friendly refrigeration, and pollinator-friendly landscaping. There will also be stickers and giveaways available at the display. Sustainable Shopping in Bulk The bulk foods department will be offering a one-day raffle to win an eco-friendly starter kit, providing another chance for everyone to learn about sustainable living, reduce their packaging waste, and make positive changes to reduce their environmental impact. If you haven't shopped in the bulk department yet, you should try it! You can bring your own clean containers and fill them with as much or as little as you need. It's fun, and our friendly staff can help you get started. Free Eco Friendly Wine Tasting Finally, we will be hosting a wine tasting from 3-5pm, featuring three excellent wines by 17 Trees in Australia. This cutting-edge eco-friendly winery not only produces excellent chardonnay, shiraz, and pinot grigio, but they also plant seventeen native tree species for every six bottles sold. Each bottle is made from recycled materials, with sustainable labeling and packaging. These wines make a great gift or conversation starter, or just something to enjoy yourself and feel good that you're doing your part to help the planet.
