The Public Forum is the kickoff session of the 75th Second District Conference of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc hosted by the Iota Phi Chapter from April 20 - April 23, 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA. This regional conference is expected to draw over 1,000 attendees from the five states of the Second District (NY, NJ, PA, DE and MD), as well as visitors from other districts. The Public Forum will be held on April 20, 2023 from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Wyndham Grand Hotel (Downtown Pittsburgh). The forum will focus on the contributions of Black men and organizations who are committed to having a positive impact in the lives of African American youth. We will celebrate their many accomplishments and discuss programmatic initiatives they have implemented to empower and inspire our youth. There will be a fireside chat featuring the City of Pittsburgh’s first Black Mayor, Ed Gainey. He will be joined by the City of Pittsburgh's first Black Chief of Staff, Jake Wheatley. There will also be a panel discussion that will feature a group of African American men and initiatives that positively impact the trajectory of Black youth. Finally, Mayor Ed Gainey will officially announce the re-launching of “My Brother’s Keeper-Pittsburgh,” which is an initiative created by President Barack Obama in 2015 to address persistent opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color. This event is FREE and open to the public. We are calling all residents, community leaders, elected officials, activists, educators, young people, and thought leaders, to join us in this timely dialogue. It should be noted that this session is a result of a collaboration between Mayor Ed Gainey, Chief of Staff Jake Wheatley, and the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
