Beginner Bird Hike Join birding volunteer, Maria Mangano, as she introduces you to bird watching on an approximately 1-hour hike through South Side Park in search of our resident and migratory species. This is an easier hike and will provide you with some of the basic techniques you need to become an official birder. Outdoor clothing, good walking shoes/boots, and binoculars are recommended. About Maria Mangano: Maria is an artist living in the South Side Slopes neighborhood of Pittsburgh who makes art about the way people see the natural world. In addition to birding, she enjoys hiking in the city parks and riding her bike around Pittsburgh with her family. Her favorite bird is the Carolina Wren. Cost: $5.00 Free for children under 12-years old
