We are looking forward to seeing you at the Alaska School Safety & Well-Being Summit on September 13-14, 2023 at the Egan Center in Anchorage.
Educational leaders, key staff, and strategic stakeholders, including representation from every district across the state, will convene to improve school safety and well-being in Alaska by both learning and sharing methods to: Promote healthy development through trauma-engaged and restorative practices, improve school climate, and be better prepared for any possible school crisis.
The Summit Objectives Include the Following:
Establish/strengthen a shared understanding of comprehensive school safety and well-being
Acquire concrete tools and skills for implementation of best practices for school safety
Build peer connections, identify community resources, and exchange of ideas and information that advance awareness of school mental health and wellness
Key topics include, but are not limited to, educator wellness, culturally responsive practices, restorative practices, positive school climate (PBIS), suicide prevention, mental health in schools, social emotional learning, trauma-engaged practices, school health, school safety, emergency operation planning, health & safety related policies, equity, and the Alaska Safe Children’s Act.
