Summer Veggies & Herbs for Central Florida

Florida’s summer sun takes a toll on traditional vegetable crops familiar in northern gardens. There are many crops, however, that can withstand the heat and keep the vegetable garden productive April - September. Join the author of “Florida Fruit and Vegetable by Cool Springs Press, Robert Bowden, as he talks about a variety of heat tolerant vegetables and herbs that not only grow but thrive in our summer heat. Everyone will receive a packet of vegetable or herbs seeds at the end of the class.
Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens after nearly three decades. Earlier in his career he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, and Assistant Director of Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. He is the author of many books including Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles and the Florida Top Ten Garden Guide. He also teaches several horticulture classes in the Science Department at Valencia State College.
Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit. If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.
Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom. Childcare services are not provided.
