Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm is sponsoring this training being provided by the Plant Science Food Safety Group. Attending a Basic Gap Course May Be Right for You if...• You grow fruits or vegetables and are interested in developing a good food safety plan to increase operational efficiency and build a food safety culture. • You want help in writing your food safety plan. • You are looking to learn more about how microbes live and interact with farm environments, and/or • You have a potential buyer that requires MD Gap certification. What You'll Get from This Training• Tips on how to implement practices to minimize your food safety risk during growing, harvesting, holding and packing fresh fruits and vegetables. • Practice conducting risk assessments. • Practice writing Standard Operating Procedures. • Assistance on writing your food safety plan (aiming for 75% completion!) • A Maryland Department of Agriculture GAP training certificate. Course Logistics and Registration Information• The Basic Gap training will take ONE FULL DAY: Saturday, April 15th from 8am - 4:30pm • Course materials including a Basic GAP training binder will be provided. • You must attend the full day course to receive an MDA GAP training certificate. • Morning snacks and lunch will be provided.
