Join us for Alta's Earth Day Celebration! We're going on a 1.5-2 hour snowshoe tour up the Alta Summer Road. The Cottonwood Canyon Foundation (CCF) is guiding the tour to teach about the unique history of Alta and about the flora and fauna of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Snowshoes are provided! Snowshoeing Details Activity level & language: Please be prepared for an uphill hike with moderate elevation gain. We will take plenty of stops to learn about plants, animals, and more. The naturalist tour will be in English. Location: We will meet at the Albion Lodge at Alta Ski Area (google mapsTransportation by bus: Please ride the bus with us! We will meet at the Sandy Station TRAX/ Bus Stop at 11:45 am (9000 S 165 E, Sandy, UT 84070). The bus departs at 12:00 pm. Bus fare is $5.00 per person each way, or $2.50 each way for seniors, valid Medicare card holders and persons with disabilities who have been pre-qualified by UTA. If you need us to cover your bus fare, please select the bus fare ticket. Transportation by private vehicle: If you will transport yourself you must make a parking reservation with Alta Ski Resort. Parking is $25.00--park in the Albion or Grizzly lot. Driving and making a parking reservation is most economic for groups of three or more in a single vehicle. If you do not have a parking reservation you will be turned away.Gear: Snowshoes will be provided by the CCF and Alta Environmental Center.Clothing: Please wear boots and bring gloves and a beanie or cap. Snow pants are great if you have them. If not, we recommend wearing synthetic fabric pants such as leggings or long johns beneath athletic pants. Layer your torso with synthetic fabric or wool shirts and a coat. See this page for more info on how to dress for exercise in the cold. What to bring: a snack and water bottle. If you have an insulated bottle we recommend bringing one filled with hot water, té, o chocolate to stay cozy.Weather: please see this site to check expected weather conditions.After registering, please fill these two trip waivers to complete your registration.
