The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma will host people from all across the state April 6 for the 2023 Spring Triad, the largest event held on campus annually. Comprising of the Montmartre Chalk Art Festival, Droverstock Music Festival and Scholastic Meet, the triad gives the public a chance to explore Science & Arts’ historic campus, enjoy a spectacular variety of outdoor artwork, music, food, vendors, inflatables and other recreational activities over the course of the day. Within the confines of a 6-foot by 6-foot square, the Montmartre Festival showcases artists of all ages and skill levels flexing their creative muscles in water-based temporary chalk. Awards are given for Best in Show as well as Judges Choice in four age categories: elementary (grades 6 and below), junior high (grades 7-9), high school (grades 10-12) and college/adult. A destination for bands from around the country and from many different genres, the Droverstock Music Festival provides the soundtrack for the day’s events. Schedule 12-1 PM – Tiger Scouts 2-3 PM – Life Raft Debate (what exactly is a Life Raft Debate? It is an exciting opportunity for six faculty members to debate why their chosen academic field is the best! The scenario is that there has been a natural disaster and we, those present, get to decide who we want to take with us to rebuild society.) 3:30-4:30 PM – Tedious and Brief 5-6 PM – The Committee on the Faculty Band (featuring current and past faculty members) 6-6:45 PM – Stand-up comedy: Cady Wollenberg 7-8 PM – Fox Royale Food trucks (open around 11 AM) A&J’s SweetsSome Like it TotRock Island Candy Co Jungle IceLyn’s Lumpia Beer Garden (5-8 PM) featuring beer from Canadian River Brewery Co and wine slushies from Shakespearean Wine Co. Other activities throughout the day Inflatables all day!Dunk tank Ultimate Frisbee During the Scholastic Meet, students from more than 40 regional high schools compete in more than two dozen subjects through tests written and proctored by Science & Arts faculty. Awards are given to the three highest scores for each competition in two divisions, as well as to the schools with the highest number of individual medal winners.
