Searches in all 4 elements will be conducted ! What is live coaching? You get to pick how you run the search! Blind, known locations, known amount, or our favorite....."Lifeline", which is where we intervene only when needed. Newer teams are highly encouraged to attend! Got more than one dog? You can run a different dog for whichever search you want but you only get one shot at it. So run dog # 1 for containers and dog # 2 for vehicles- what ever your training goals are! Teams should know and respond to the odors of Anise, Birch, and Clove. Other odors (narcotics, explosives, firearms, etc.) are welcome with prior notice. Depending on the odor, the handler may need to supply the training aids. Your instructor- Pete Stevens- retired from law enforcement after 32 years. During his career, Pete handled 4 dogs both for patrol and detection. Pete is a K9 team evaluator for California Peace Officer Training and Standards (CA POST) , Certifying Official for the California Narcotic Canine Association (CNCA) and a Board Member of CNCA. Pete is also a Trial Judge for NACSW.
