In this six week course, students will immerse themselves in the makerspace and learn how to design and construct their very own costumes, or pieces of a costume, based off of a character of their choosing!
Starting in the textile arts studio, students will discuss and sketch their design, then strategize the planning, execution and feasibility of creation within the time frame. We will cover basic sewing techniques such as; how to hand stitch, how to use a sewing machine, and how to follow a pattern. No previous experience necessary!
In the second half of the course, students will expand their knowledge and have the opportunity to explore other studios to build a prop or jewelry piece for their costume, or have the option to continue working on their sewing project.
Finally, we will dress up as our characters and have a photo shoot party in our photography studio!
