Shared Reading Saturdays is a free program that teaches parents how to read using American Sign Language with their Deaf and hard of hearing children to increase literacy and language development in both ASL and English. This program is based on the 15 Principles for Reading to Deaf Children developed by the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University.
Families with Deaf and hard of hearing children are welcome to be part of Shared Reading Saturdays.
• Learn how to read to your child using American Sign Language
• Children will enjoy arts and craft based on the book
• Pizza and refreshments will be served
• Everyone will leave with a copy of the book and access to ASL interpretation
