Greetings, My name is Lyric Sherman. I am an organizer of an organization created to groom a large percentage of economically disadvantaged young ladies who exemplify poise, leadership and respect within their schools and communities. Due to the needs of the community, I am continuing the legacy by hosting a series of events entitled, "Act Like a Lady; Think Like a Boss." The Mission of Act Like a Lady; Think Like a Boss is to provide mentorship and guidance for young ladies looking to become their best selves. By giving young ladies an avenue to discuss important issues and experience new things, the lives of each of them will be enriched and empowered. Character building is at the crux of the holistic development of our youth, and in its absence our lady's lack the skills to maximize their citizenship in our community. WHAT WE DO: Engage in conversations on real-world issues that are facing young women Learn etiquette lessons that help us seamlessly adapt to different environments Provide a support group to turn to when faced with challenges Conduct community service with young girls in the community Attend networking events/outings in the community and surrounding areas Focus on building character and esteem in young ladies Paying it forward through community service projects that give back to those in need. I understand the lack of opportunities for mentorship that exist. In a continued effort to fill the missing void, we are hosting several sessions covering Dress for Success, Leadership & Professionalism,Love Language,Self Love, College Readiness, Entrepreneur 101 “How to be a Boss” , “Life after High School” ,Mentorship, Interview 101 Do’s and Don’ts, How to cope with Anxiety & Depression, Financial Literacy, Social Media etiquette; poise and posture: the language of good posture; model look types; a guide to radiant skin care; social media 101; makeup 101; model walk 101; public speaking 101; future goals; types of modeling; waltz dancing; college and career savvy; entrepreneurship; health and wellness 101; dining etiquette; expressing yourself with color and style; relationships and reproductive health; female hygiene; money matters and wealth; nutrition and fitness and smart girls finish rich. In addition to those sessions, many attend various outings like the Paying It Forward Community Service Projects:Stuff the Truck, a Back to School Event, Season Greetings to the Elderly and Prom Dress/Suit Giveaway. Though our work is just getting started, we have covered much ground and hopefully with your support we will be able to do even more for our ladies in the years to come! We are confident that the program is successful and can provide value to the young ladies of the Dallas County Community. We are thankful to say all of the young ladies who successfully completed the 2018-2022 program are either now enrolled in college, working, beginning their careers, or successful entrepreneurs.
