ACS (est. 2008) is an organization that strives to unite students who are interested in Chinese American culture. Our three main purposes are to increase cultural awareness, build our community, and inspire students to be proactive in our campus culture.
The club's goals for this year are to extend opportunities to members and become a tighter community through events and activities. To achieve that goal, this year ACS hosts weekend events, educational programming, club retreats, banquets, and more. Furthermore, one of the biggest events is the Chinese Culture Night (CCN).
CCN is a large-scale annual production that is an effort to create a connection with the audience and the community. With the collective efforts of the organization members and staff, we plan to follow the theme of Re:Ignition to depict how Coronavirus led to an increase in Asian hate. The protagonist must navigate a series of obstacles in a struggle to overcome racism from their community. The artistic interpretations of Chinese culture are expressed through traditional and modern choreographed dances. Furthermore, the songs and music throughout our production depict our way of life with a fusion of the past and present. Scenes portrayed by our actors bring the stories of our people and their struggles to life on stage.
