Description

The Last (Plastic) StrawThis is an incredibly special event that came together SUPER last minute, but when great people come to town, its always worth bringing the community together. We're thrilled to be hosting Sea Briganti, Founder and CEO of Loliware, and Briana Warner, CEO of Atlantic Sea Farms, for a fireside chat focused squarely on the role seaweed can play in helping to reduce plastic. We're well aware of the environmental issues that plastic poses to marine ecosystems, so it will be exciting to hear from 2 leaders deeply engaged in seaweed-based material innovation here in the United States. About LOLIWARE: LOLIWARE Inc. is an award-winning materials tech company focused on replacing single-use plastics with seaweed-derived technologies Designed to Disappear™. Since its inception in 2015, LOLIWARE has been rewriting the story of destructive packaging with products that last for hours, not forever. Each session is free to attend and includes a curated panel of speakers who share their own intimate and organic perspectives on the topic du jour. Created in 2019, the program’s intent is to convene an engaged audience to raise awareness, promote dialog, and facilitate connections amongst those interested in the region’s blue economy. The EITBE series has become a part of Transforming the Blue Economy (TBE), a purpose-driven collaboration created by the World Ocean Observatory, a 501c.3 non-profit, and the New England Ocean Cluster. The project endeavors to advance and modernize New England’s ocean-minded industries through education and community engagement; by bridging the gap between capacity and need; and by assisting in the creation of sustainable and innovative enterprises.
