Veterans, join us for a mixed surface ADV ride from Portland Metro to a dispersed camping area alongside the beautiful John Day river.
This event is intended as a springtime shakedown ride for both new and experienced riders, but it is in a remote area of Oregon, and VB40 staff will be riding their own adventure bikes; thus, riders will need to be bring all of their own camping gear, meals, snacks, and water. Spring weather in Oregon is weather in Oregon; riding conditions may change quickly.
Friday AM, we will be departing Troutdale, taking I84 East, exiting toward Fossil, and navigating mixed surface roads with some lofty heights to our camping area. Saturday, we will be exploring this beautiful area via groomed gravel and optional under-maintained twin track. Sunday morning, camp will be struck and riders will head homeward or onward.
The nearest amenities are located in Mitchell about 40 minutes away via gravel roads. The plan is to make a fuel run/store run on Saturday after we visit the Painted Hills viewpoint since that is as close to town as we will be during the event.
