Rocky Mountain National Park and the Front Range area are home to an exciting range of raptors! Experienced wildlife guide Perry Conway will introduce you to these remarkable birds and help you learn to spot them in the wild. Our morning will begin with an informative lecture, illustrated by Perry’s vibrant photographs of raptors in the wild. Participants will learn about the natural history of the various diurnal raptors species who make their home in the Rockies and Front Range area. In the afternoon, participants will visit nesting areas and other spots where raptors are likely to be seen, and have a chance to photograph these incredible birds in the wild. Please note – this course begins at the Lyons Regional Library in Lyons, CO. Who: adults & teens ages 16 and up. This is a Level I course. Expect short-distance walks on maintained trails and indoor classroom sessions in accessible buildings. When: Saturday, June 10th, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Where: This course will be held in and around Lyons, CO. We will start with a classroom session at the Lyons Regional Library, located at 451 4th Ave, Lyons, CO. We will travel together in Conservancy vehicles to field locations around Lyons following the classroom session. He has worked with numerous species of raptors, from kestrels to eagles, and presented conservation programs at schools and other venues.
