We are always on the lookout for the next great producer. We aren't content to be the shop that houses your favorite spirits. We want to be the shop that introduces you to your next favorite spirit, the one you never knew you needed. This is why when we were approached by mezcal producer 5 Sentidos to launch their fantastic line into the state we jumped at the opportunity. 5 Sentidos is named after the five senses that mezcaleros use to produce their agave spirits. The producers of this mezcal do not use any model machinery or tools, being guided only by their senses throughout the production process. Originally the house brand of the famed El Destilado restaurant of Oaxaca, these spirits offer a curated tour of Mexico with a wide range of expressions that are made by some of the best mezcaleros in the region. The line highlights diverse, traditional production methods employed by small batch producers who distill a wide variety of agave species. The various expressions embody the customs, traditions and history behind the spirits and people who make them. Once available only at the restaurant, these spirits have been given a national audience thanks to our friends at PM Spirits. We brought in four of our favorite expressions from 5 Sentidos and I am not exaggerating when I say these are some of the most interesting agave spirits I have tasted in years. Each is a testament to the small production, hand crafted philosophies of the brand. But we aren't asking you to take our word for it. We've invited Jason Cox, the founder and owner of El Destilado and 5 Centidos, to introduce you to these phenomenal spirits himself. We will be hosting Jason at our tasting bar on Thursday April 6th from 4-6 to taste out the line, share tales, give you a sense of what makes 5 Sentidos a truly unique product. All four of our offerings are in store now and just waiting for a good home.
