Join our local high school students at the Traverse City Opera House as they showcase the important STEM and business skills they've been learning in their programs! Hear their ideas for how to solve problems they've identified. They will compete for cash prizes that will be awarded to their school program. This is a free program, please register to support our event planning. Your Student Pitch Competition evening will will consist of: Social networking: starting at 5:30 pm there will be an informal opportunity for attendees to meet the student pitch participants in the TC Opera House second floor reception area. High School Pitch Competition: at 6:00pm there will be a short welcome before high school teams will pitch their solutions to identified problems and prizes will be awarded. The judging panel will already have reviewed the student work products (engineering log, prototype, presentation) prior to the live pitches, and will ask questions of each team after their pitch to determine the winners. Our goals are to: Develop and practice creativity and collaboration skillsGrow strength in problem solving, empathy, and failure as a learning opportunityBuild a pipeline of entrepreneurs and startupsStudents and their fans are encouraged to attend! Participating High Schools programs: Elk Rapids High School - Computer Science ClassNorth Ed Career Tech - Engineering AcademyTraverse City West HS - Sci-Ma-Tech 10th grade studentsLight refreshments will be provided. About Northern Michigan Startup Week Happening May 6-11, 2023, Northern Michigan Startup Week is a celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the growing startup community in Traverse City and throughout the region.
