This class is for new knitters or knitters who are ready to start reading patterns and understand garment shaping. In this class, Lizz will teach you how to knit in the round, read patterns and select your size so you can begin making garments and fitted accessories like hats. You will learn about making a gauge swatch, and will learn how to do basic increasing and decreasing stitches (m1l, m1r, k2tog and ssk stitches).
EXPERIENCE LEVEL
This is an adventurous-beginner's class; students must know how to cast-on, knit and purl (working flat) and bind off.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS NEEDED
Students may bring their own yarn and needles or purchase at Fabulous Yarn before the workshop begins. If you plan to purchase yarn, please arrive 30 minutes before the class starts so Lizz can help you select appropriate yarn and needles.
You will need 1 skein of yarn in any yarn weight you are comfortable with. You will also need knitting needles in the appropriate corresponding size based on the yarn weight you choose, and Lizz recommendeds that you bring circular needles with at least 16” cable length.
