Since 2016, Dr. Ada Cheng has worked to create platforms for people to tell difficult and vulnerable stories. A former DePaul University professor and current Illinois Humanities Road Scholar, Cheng utilizes storytelling to illustrate structural inequities, raise critical awareness, and build intimate communities.
Over the last month Dr. Cheng has worked with DeKalb community members to explore and develop their own stories.
On April 20 from 7-8:30pm, these speakers will share their stories in a showcase event. The program will be hosted in Ellcourt, one of the Ellwood House Museum’s two historic homes.
Parking is available on-site at 420 Linden Place in DeKalb. Free; registration is not required. If you are interested in sharing your own story, contact [email protected].
This event is being produced by DeKalb County History Center and Ellwood House Museum with support from a grant by the DeKalb County Mental Health Board.
