Description

While you're browsing through local vendors at the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market, stop in at the Village Picnic Area for a hands-on family activity. Teaching poet, Kita Huerta, will provide bites of fruit and guides children in a mindful tasting exercise leading into a poetry writing workshop. This activity takes about 15 minutes and is first-come, first-served while supplies last. Why poetry? April is National Poetry Month! When mastered, poetry harnesses the power of language to share and express feeling. This month, Vizcaya is partnering with O, Miami and WLRN to host the Zip Odes Finale on April 26th. Why food? Vizcaya Village was the original location of farms and greenhouses that supplied the Main House guests and staff with food and fresh flowers. By connecting to our roots, we bring it full circle and get us thinking about food then and now! NOTE: This is a free drop-in activity. Available while supplies last. Does not include admission to the museum and gardens on the east side of the property. VIZCAYA FAMILY PROGRAMS | This series is designed to create opportunities for intergenerational interactions among families with young children (ages 6-12). As such, orders that do not include a child ticket may be canceled. To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
