Social workers witness and walk alongside young people each day who build resiliency out of hardship, trauma, and pain in their lives and in the lives of those they love. Many of those young folks experience attacks and discrimination because of their identity, race, nationalization, ethnicity, disabilities, age, and other socially constructed identities. Whether the challenges are mental health, substance use, education, jobs, safety, basic needs of food and housing, and/or surviving each day, young people have something to say about their day-to-day and their futures. In social work, we learn best from those most impacted and we hold ourselves responsible for addressing the injustices against those most marginalized in our communities. Join us to hear the challenges youth face in our community and about some of the efforts taking place with and by young people to change the narrative, raise-up their lived experiences, and honor their resiliency.
