Join the City of St. Petersburg's Earth Week activites by attending this tour of the Pinellas County Solid Waste Complex. The 90-minute tour includes a presentation where participants will learn how over 1,000,000 tons of waste are managed each year and how to reduce, reuse, and recycle to create less waste. It also includes a driving tour for an up-close look at what happens after garbage is collected from homes and businesses.
We will be meeting at 2940 110th Avenue North, St. Petersburg 33716. Parking is available on the west side of the building. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early.
No Such Place As AWAY! Ever wonder what happens to your garbage when you throw it away? This family-friendly tour provides an overview of Pinellas County’s integrated solid waste management system, including the Waste-to-Energy facility and landfill, recycling programs, and the Household Electronics and Chemical Collection Center (HEC₃).
