This workshop examines why improved mental and physical health is a strategy to address and improve community/public health. Specific attention will be placed on Addiction and Mental Health in SDOH as manifestations of Historical and Generational Trauma affecting African American and BIPOC communities. Finley has spent 34 years working with the Center for Disease Control He began his career with CDC April 1989 as a Disease Intervention Specialist, at the Lauderhill STD Training Facility in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Dr. Finley has over 30 -years experience at state and local health departments as a front-line supervisor, program manager, surveillance coordinator, and special projects coordinator. Dr. Finley has extensive international experience serving various post in Africa during his career. Dr. Finley is currently based at the CDC office in Atlanta, Georgia where he continues his work addressing the social determinants of health with a specic focus on African and African Diasporan Communities.
