Join us on May 6th for the Heritage Awards, a celebration of Sarasota's rich history and architectural heritage! From 4 pm to 8 pm, we'll be honoring the individuals, businesses, and organizations that have made significant contributions to the advancement of historic preservation.

This year's event will take place at the stunning Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, a landmark of modernist architecture in Sarasota.
The Heritage Awards honor individuals and organizations that have made significant and lasting contributions to the preservation of Sarasota's historic resources. Honorees will be recognized for their work in historic structure preservation and adaptive use, archeological and historical collections, and individual and organizational achievements.
Last year's Greg A. and Eleana Najmy Hall Historic Structure Preservation Awards recipients included Robert and Anne Essner's Umbrella House, Brian and Katherine Leaver's Cunliff Residence, Parth Shaha's Golden Host Resort, and Don and Terri Leibentritt's Cottage at Point of Rocks.
Recipients included Sarsota's 2021 Centennial Steering Committee, historical journalist Larry Humes, Alexandra Vargas-Minor, Rene DiPilato, and Harry Klinkhamer.
The 2023 Heritage Awards are made possible by the generous support of our sponsors and members.
The Awards will be held in the Grand Foyer of the Van Wezel. Tickets are priced at $150 and include a sit-down dinner, complimentary wine, event program, awards presentations, and dessert at sunset on the Terrace overlooking Sarasota Bay (weather permitting!).
Our host for the evening will be John McCarthy, noted speaker and historian from the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens & Historic Spanish Point.
