FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Starting Monday, coronavirus vaccinations will be provided in Forsyth County to certain groups of individuals that will be part of the newly expanded Phase 1-A of the Georgia COVID-19 Vaccination Plan. They include: Healthcare providers: hospital staff, public health clinical staff, EMS and other first responders, long term care facility staff and urgent care facility staffAdults 65-years-and-olderLaw enforcement and fire personnel If any qualifying residents want to register to receive a vaccine, visit the District 2 Public Health website. A call center number will be available on Monday for those who do not have access to online registration. To provide the vaccine in a safe environment, District 2 Public Health ask everyone to follow these steps: Vaccines are for residents who live or work in the counties that comprise District 2Vaccines will be given by appointment only – walk-ins will not be acceptedThe number of people in enclosed spaces will be limited by observing recommended social distances to prevent the spread of illnessCome to your appointment as close to the allotted time as possible to reduce the number of people in the waiting area (you may be asked to wait outside or in your car if you are too early)If you have insurance, bring your card. Insurance will help pay to offset the cost for administering the vaccine.There will be no cost to anyone to get vaccinated. You should plan to remain for post-vaccination observation for up to 30-minutesPrior to vaccination, review of product-specific safety information and consent will be requiredBoth Moderna and Pfizer vaccine require two-doses – appointments are required for both dosesUnderstand you will receive the vaccine that is available (Pfizer or Moderna) Residents are encouraged to monitor the District 2 Public Health website and Facebook page for announcements regarding COVID-19 vaccine availability and testing. The Department of Public Health District 2 is run by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Forsyth County government has no control or influence over their operations. Georgia's vaccine rollout is currently in Phase 1-A, which allows vaccination only of individuals listed in the groups above. The remaining rollout phases are as follows: Phase 1-B People who play a key role in keeping essential functions of society running, including:Critical workforce employees (e.g., educational faculty and staff, court employees, nuclear power plant employees, air traffic controllers, food processing, grocery workers, transportation, etc.) Phase 1-C Adults under 65 with comorbidities Phase 2 Individuals in homeless sheltersIndividuals in congregate settings (e.g. homeless shelters, dormitories, group homes)Individuals in jails, prisons, detention centersOther people living in congregate settingsAll adults between the ages of 41-64-years-old Phase 3 Workers in industries important to the functioning of society and at moderate risk of exposure as listed in executive orders (e.g. hairstylists, barbers, restaurants, etc.)Young adults between the ages of 16-39-years-old Phase 4 Everyone residing in Georgia for whom the vaccine is recommended not included in previous vaccination phasesChildren, once the vaccine is approved for pediatric use The timing of Phases 1-B through 4 has not yet been announced.
