Description

Doors open at 7:30pm and lecture begins at dusk. This series showcases Austin’s talented designers, with each installment focusing on an individual practitioner and their unique approach to their work. This month's event will feature landscape architect Ilse Frank, PLA, ASLA, Assoc. AIA. Ilse is Founding Principal of Studio Balcones. She views projects through the lens of an architect and a landscape architect, and pays particular attention to city and regional planning. Ilse designs with a consideration for the long term and far reaching impacts beyond a site’s boundary. At a finer scale, she approaches public space and parks in tandem with buildings— addressing relationships of scale, materials, and inside/outside connections. Ilse is an active member of ASLA Texas and a current Board Member of AIA Austin. This Design Talks series is presented by the Austin Foundation for Architecture in collaboration with AIA Austin. April's Design Talk is presented in partnership with ASLA Texas - Central Texas Section.
